Sportsmanship & Behavior Expectations
ACAC is committed to fostering a positive, supportive, and respectful environment for all members, including swimmers, parents, coaches, and facility staff.
Safety
Safety is our top priority. Swimmers are expected to follow pool rules at all times. This includes: no running on the pool deck, no horseplay, and appropriate use of swim team equipment.
Respect for Teammates, Coaches, and Facility
All swimmers are expected to demonstrate respect for teammates, coaches, and facility staff.
- Listening and following instructions from coaches and staff members.
- Treating teammates, competitors, coaches, and facility staff with kindness and respect.
- Taking care of the facilities and equipment by keeping the pool area and locker rooms clean and reporting any damage or issues immediately.
Sportsmanship
Good sportsmanship is essential for fostering a positive team environment. Swimmers and parents are expected to:
- Encourage and support their teammates, both in and out of the pool.
- Congratulate opponents on their performance, regardless of the outcome.
- Accept and learn from constructive criticism, using it as an opportunity for growth.
- Refrain from negative comments or gestures towards teammates, opponents, officials, coaches and parents.
Bullying
Bullying and harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, physical, verbal, or emotional bullying, as well as cyberbullying.
If a swimmer or parent witnesses or experiences bullying or harassment, they should immediately report the incident to a Coach. All reports will be taken seriously and investigated promptly. In accordance with USA Swimming and JSL policies, ACAC will take appropriate disciplinary action, which may include suspension or expulsion from the team.
By adhering to these sportsmanship and behavior expectations, we can create a safe, enjoyable, and supportive environment for all members of the ACAC Swim Team.
